This policy explains what personal data Joblook.ai (unregistered) ("Joblook", "we", "us") collects when you use joblook.ai, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Joblook is operated from India and is not yet a registered company. When it is registered, we will update this policy with the company's legal name and address. We process personal data in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under them.

What we collect

  • Account details. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. We do not receive your Google password.
  • Resumes. The files you upload (PDF or DOCX) and the information in them, such as your work history, education, skills, and contact details.
  • Job preferences. The roles, locations, skills, experience range, and alert settings you choose.
  • Activity in Joblook. Jobs you save, applications you confirm, their stages, and the notes you add.
  • Usage and device data. Pages you visit, features you use, your approximate location based on IP address, browser, and device type. We collect this with cookies and similar technologies (see below).

Please don't include sensitive information you don't want processed, such as government ID numbers, health details, or financial account numbers, in your resume.

How we use it

  • To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
  • To understand your experience from your resume and compare it with job requirements, so we can show you matches in For You.
  • To send the email job alerts you have turned on.
  • To save your jobs, applications, and notes in My Jobs.
  • To understand how Joblook is used, fix problems, and improve the product.
  • To send service messages, such as changes to these terms or this policy.
  • To prevent abuse and comply with the law.

We process your data on the basis of the consent you give when you sign in and use Joblook, and for the legitimate uses allowed by law. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share your resume with employers. Joblook sends you to the employer's own site to apply; what you share there is covered by that employer's policies.

Artificial intelligence

We use AI service providers to read resume content and compare it with job descriptions. We send them only what is needed for that task. Match labels such as Strong match and Good match are automated comparisons between your resume and a role. They do not predict whether you will be interviewed or hired, and no decision about you is made by an employer through Joblook.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with service providers that help us run Joblook, under agreements that limit how they use it:

  • Google, for sign-in.
  • AI service providers, for resume understanding and matching.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS), for hosting, databases, and file storage.
  • An email delivery provider, for alerts and service messages.
  • Google Analytics and PostHog, for product analytics.

We may also disclose data when required by law, to protect our users or the service, or as part of a merger, registration, or transfer of the business, in which case this policy will continue to apply.

Where your data is stored. Your data, including your account details and resumes, is stored on AWS in the United States (US West, Oregon region). Some other providers above may also process data outside India. By using Joblook, you consent to this transfer. We only transfer data to countries that Indian law permits, and we require providers to protect it.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and remember your settings. We also use analytics cookies from Google Analytics and PostHog to understand how Joblook is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; if you block essential cookies, signing in may not work.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete a saved resume from Resumes at any time, unless it is being processed or is your primary resume (choose another primary first). When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep it longer by law. Backups are removed on their normal cycle.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
  • correct, complete, or update your data;
  • delete your data and your account;
  • withdraw your consent, which stops future processing;
  • nominate another person to exercise these rights if you die or become unable to.

Email [email protected] from the address on your account. We will reply within 30 days. You can turn email alerts off at any time in notification settings. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and trusted providers to protect your data. No service is completely secure; if a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.

Children

Joblook is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has used Joblook, contact us and we will delete their data.

Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the date above. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or in the product before it takes effect.

Contact and grievances

For questions, requests, or complaints about your personal data, contact our Grievance Officer at [email protected]. We aim to acknowledge grievances within 24 hours and resolve them within 30 days. See also our terms of service.
