About the role

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the systems engineering, integration, verification, validation, and technical coordination of solid rocket propulsion systems and their interfaces across the full product lifecycle.

The position reports to the applicable Engineering Manager and is part of the Engineering organization. This role is primarily onsite and may be based at a Voyager Technologies facility.

In this role, the essential functions are:

  • Prepare and present systems engineering artifacts, technical analyses, requirements documentation, verification evidence, design review materials, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support propulsion development and test activities by defining system-level objectives, reviewing test plans and data, evaluating results, and supporting anomaly investigations and root-cause analysis.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve technical issues, manage interfaces, identify risks, and support integrated design decisions.
  • Support system architecture development, technical trade studies, configuration management, and management of engineering baselines.
  • Develop verification and validation strategies, plans, methods, and matrices to demonstrate compliance with technical and program requirements.
  • Define and manage internal and external interfaces between propulsion systems, vehicles, structures, avionics, ground support equipment, test systems, and other integrated subsystems.
  • Develop, decompose, allocate, and maintain system and subsystem requirements, ensuring traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Lead and support systems engineering activities for solid rocket propulsion systems from concept development through design, integration, test, qualification, production, and sustainment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with 4–15 years of relevant aerospace, propulsion, or systems engineering experience; a Master’s degree may be substituted for up to two years of experience. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience applying systems engineering principles to complex aerospace hardware, propulsion systems, or other integrated technical products.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering tools and methodologies, including requirements management and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) concepts.
  • Experience supporting solid rocket motors or solid propulsion systems, including motor performance, propulsion subsystem interfaces, development, test, qualification, or production support.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and managing system requirements, interfaces, verification methods, and technical baselines.
  • Experience with requirements management, configuration management, interface control, and verification and validation processes.
  • Ability to develop and maintain systems engineering documentation, including requirements specifications, interface control documents, verification plans, and technical reports.
  • Experience participating in multidisciplinary design reviews and communicating technical information across engineering, manufacturing, test, quality, program, and leadership teams.
  • Ability to independently manage technical assignments with increasing scope and complexity; engineers at the higher end of the experience range may lead system-level efforts, mentor junior engineers, and provide subject-matter expertise.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with controlled technical data and comply with applicable safety, quality, export control, and government requirements.

Travel, Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:

  • Travel up to 10%, including the possibility of overnight travel to support testing, suppliers, customers, or other Voyager locations.

To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Parts 120–130) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730–774), applicants for this position must be a U.S. Person: a US Citizen, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3). Applicants must be eligible to obtain any required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Department of Commerce.
