About the Opportunity:

The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for the overall coordination of the clinical functions of the inpatient setting. Primary job duties include providing direct patient care involving evaluation, treatment, assessment and education of adaptive equipment and devices, communication with hospital interdisciplinary team members, and family/caregiver education as appropriate. The Occupational Therapist creates an environment and culture that enables the hospital to fulfill its mission by providing patient safety and patient-centered treatment.

This is a PRN position supporting the Acute Care and Outpatient Adult setting.

What You Will Do:

  • Provides skilled occupational therapy in accordance with physician plan of care. Assists in assessing patients’ functional level by applying appropriate tests and measures in the development and revision of plan of care.
  • Promotes and utilizes appropriate patient care protocols relating to the physical, psychosocial and developmental needs of neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
  • Establishes occupational therapy interventions based upon the evaluation and examination, physician orders, life roles, and patient goals for therapy.
  • Provides care relating to patients’ needs in multiple areas including Patient Care Unit, Patient Acute Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit, Surgical/Medical Centers, and Obstetrics Department if qualified per specific physician order.
  • Educates and instructs patients, families, or caregivers in occupational therapy activities; instructs in the use of prosthetics, splint wear and care, orthotic devices, and durable medical equipment as appropriate to ensure safe and successful discharge. Develops skills to independently fabricate common static splints per physician order.
  • Treats patients to relieve pain, develop and restore function, and maintain maximum individualized performance using occupational therapy treatments, modalities, and procedures described in the occupational therapy plan of care.
  • Develops and maintains individualized patient progress records, including changes in status, with accuracy; communicates changes in condition to involved staff.
  • Submits appropriate documentation and billing by the end of the treatment day.
  • Participates in continuing education courses and in-service presentations for clinical staff, including non-therapist staff, and reviews professional publications.
  • Role models the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

License(s):

  • Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Colorado, or licensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of Colorado or with valid Compact Privilege.

Certification(s):

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Computer / Typing:

  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, and complete other online requirements.

  • Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
