We are seeking a Systems/Software Issue Manager to join our R&D Center Engineering team. The ideal candidate demonstrates a can-do attitude, determination, excellence, quick learning, and a drive for perfection in a fast-paced environment.
What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand set to revolutionize the electric pickup truck and rugged SUV marketplace by:
- Leading the triage of vehicle electrical hardware/software defect reports from multiple sources and driving them to the appropriate teams for solution and closure.
- Helping develop and execute the defect management process, including leading and lagging measurable metrics.
- Ensuring defect information is complete, up to date, and follows the defect management process.
- Collecting requirements for defect management tools and facilitating their development and extension by internal and external service providers.
- Monitoring incoming defects, rating their severity, and providing metrics and statistics to measure defect arrivals and resolutions.
- Leading first-level triage with engineers from ESPs, suppliers, and Scout Motors to identify software issue module owners.
- Leading system challenges that cross domains without a clear single defect owner.
- Working with internal and external development teams to ensure defects have clear ownership and next steps.
- Participating in program quality gate meetings for software issues.
- Leading engineers from ESPs, suppliers, and Scout development teams to build a software issue resolution roadmap.
- Developing bug trend reports by component and release.
- Providing visibility into ticket status and highlighting stalled items.
- Developing weekly software issue status and trend reports.
- Identifying and implementing process and tool improvements to improve software issue resolution times.
Location & Travel Expectations
- This role is based at the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan.
- This role requires 4–5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
- The role requires the ability to meet with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in company events from time to time.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, IT Systems, or Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university; preferably Electrical, Controls, or Automotive Engineering.
- 8+ years of professional experience in Software Development.
- Motivation to work at the cutting edge of electric and range-extended vehicle development, with a hands-on mindset and problem-solving attitude.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ownership, analytical thinking, teamwork, and the ability to thrive in collaborative, cross-functional environments.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a global and cross-functional development organization.
- Experience with defect management and cross-functional teams in a firmware environment.
- Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies such as Agile.
- Experience with software issue and configuration management tools such as Jira, Git, and IBM Rational.
- Comfort with change and flexibility in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Willingness and authority to drive problems to a solution.
- Experience with project management tools.
- Experience working in complex cross-functional organizations.
- Ability to operate under intense time pressure.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary will be determined based on factors including the candidate’s skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $140,000.00 - $170,000.00
