About the role
About the Product Management Team:
The Product Management team at Rubrik drives forward Rubrik's vision, ensuring the company continues to deliver on its market-leading platform while addressing customers' data management and security needs. The Platforms team owns the foundational layers—hardware, virtual on-premises platforms, and APIs—that underpin every product.
About the Role:
Rubrik is looking for a strategic, technically deep Staff Product Manager to own Rubrik's virtual offerings—Rubrik Edge and Rubrik Virtual Cluster. These products are delivered as software running on infrastructure customers already operate and are deployed across thousands of sites worldwide.
This is a portfolio role covering multiple products, distinct installed bases, and buying motions. The role owns the strategy and roadmap across the portfolio, the virtualization and storage ecosystems underpinning these products, and the standards by which they are qualified, deployed, and supported.
Responsibilities:
- Own the strategy, roadmap, and execution for the virtual offerings portfolio, ensuring the products reinforce one another.
- Own the virtualization platform roadmap, prioritizing new platforms against customer demand and required engineering investment.
- Own the storage ecosystem, including qualification standards, partner engagement, and joint go-to-market.
- Define deployment, qualification, and supportability standards for software-only deployments across customer-owned infrastructure.
- Own the commercial case for the portfolio, including pricing and positioning, and present it to executive leadership.
- Drive AI into how these products are evaluated, deployed, and operated.
- Partner with and influence senior cross-functional stakeholders across Engineering, Alliances, Sales Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and Support.
- Represent the portfolio externally to customers, partners, and the field.
- Mentor and serve as a role model for other Product Managers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years of product management experience, with significant experience in platform or infrastructure product roles.
- Demonstrated success owning and managing the strategy and execution of multiple high-impact products simultaneously.
- Broad knowledge of enterprise virtualization, including VMware, Nutanix, Microsoft, Red Hat, Proxmox, and the wider KVM ecosystem.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes and container platforms.
- Working knowledge of enterprise storage, including shared arrays, software-defined storage, S3-compatible object interfaces, Object Lock, immutability semantics, failure domains, and data locality.
- Experience defining storage qualification standards, performance criteria, and conformance testing.
- Experience shipping AI-driven product capabilities.
- Business acumen and the ability to build business cases, communicate effectively, influence others, and measure success.
- Ability to lead without authority.
- BS in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience; MBA or Master's in Engineering preferred.
