About the role
Job Summary:
The Portfolio Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting portfolio reporting, account data integrity, reconciliation processes, and operational oversight across multiple custodial platforms. This role works closely with Portfolio Consultants, Wealth Management teams, Portfolio Management Groups, Compliance, Advisors, and technology partners to ensure accurate client reporting and timely resolution of operational exceptions.
The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex data across multiple systems while maintaining high standards of accuracy and client service.
Essential Job Functions for the Portfolio Operations Specialist will include:
- Investigate, analyze, and resolve cost basis and performance reporting discrepancies across portfolio accounting and reporting platforms.
- Perform daily account reviews and reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of trading activity, positions, and reporting data in alignment with custodial records and reporting systems.
- Conduct proactive portfolio audits and quality control reviews to maintain compliance with Mercer Advisors reporting standards, policies, and data governance practices.
- Review and analyze corporate actions to assess downstream impacts on portfolio holdings, trading activity, reporting accuracy, and account-specific investment restrictions.
- Generate, validate, and troubleshoot quarterly client reporting deliverables, ensuring timely production and resolution of reporting exceptions and data integrity issues.
- Partner with Portfolio Operations, Compliance, Technology, and custodial partners to identify root causes of reporting discrepancies and implement sustainable process improvements.
- Monitor and resolve reporting exceptions, escalating issues as appropriate and documenting findings to support operational transparency and audit readiness.
- Contribute to the enhancement of reporting processes, reconciliation procedures, and data quality controls to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Interacts with client service teams to resolve issues on third-party systems
- Must be able to troubleshoot with creativity and latitude
- Performs other duties assigned as needed
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma required
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution strongly preferred (preferably Business, Economics, Accounting or Finance related)
- At least 1 year of experience in a professional investment management environment preferred
- Experience with Envestnet systems helpful
- Excellent communication skills with a strong ability to prioritize, multi-task and troubleshoot
- Experience with the Orion Advisor Solutions preferred
- Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access helpful
Working Conditions:
Professional office environment, daytime hours, working inside, standing, and sitting, will be assigned to a work station, no heavy lifting over 10 lbs.
