About the role:
As the search landscape shifts and the market gets more crowded, Help Scout is investing in paid and performance marketing to accelerate signups, expand brand awareness, and diversify customer acquisition. The role will own the strategy for turning performance marketing into a durable growth engine supporting self-serve, product-led, and sales-assisted growth. You will report to the VP of Marketing and build partnerships across Marketing, Sales, Product, Support, and company leadership.
In this role, you will:
- Own quarterly and long-term performance marketing strategy across paid, lifecycle, and conversion channels.
- Own ad copy, creative, bidding strategy, and budget allocation across paid search and display.
- Identify and evaluate new channel investments, including paid social, affiliate, direct mail, and out-of-home advertising.
- Connect paid spend to pipeline and revenue in partnership with Sales and RevOps.
- Coordinate content, social, SEO, and AEO so paid and organic acquisition reinforce each other.
- Represent Help Scout’s performance marketing perspective and keep the company ahead of a competitive market.
- Define how Help Scout appears in AI-driven discovery alongside traditional paid and organic search.
- Build the roadmap for the performance marketing function, including future headcount needs.
About you:
- At least 7+ years in performance or growth marketing, including strategy ownership for a B2B SaaS company.
- Significant experience owning B2B SaaS paid and performance marketing strategy.
- Expertise across paid channels, search landscapes, and benchmarks such as PPC, CPM, and ROAS.
- A scrappy, results-driven mindset and comfort with ambiguity, modest budgets, and lean teams.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and attribution platforms.
- Experience running rapid experimentation and adapting strategy based on data.
- Daily use of AI tools to improve output, with specific examples of impact.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting strategy to senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Bonus: experience managing an agency and/or direct reports.
