About the role
Summary:
Creates, modifies, and reviews complex electrical designs while maintaining the highest quality engineering on-time and on-budget. Responsible for product research, design, modification, installation, integration, certification, and testing of aircraft interior electrical systems for Commercial, VIP, and Special Mission aircraft applications. Assists leadership in training and process improvements.
This is a temporary position employed through an agency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Creates a master drawing list of electrical systems drawings and documents for project level STC.
- Defines electrical system architecture development by meeting client and regulatory requirements for program specific interiors including air conditioning and heating, cabin management, in-flight entertainment, in-flight communication, electrical power distribution and conversion, personal power, interior lighting, potable and waste-water systems, smoke and fire detection, security, and camera systems.
- Designs wire diagrams, wire kits, and other technical documents as required utilizing engineering drafting and program tools.
- Reviews completed drawing packages from peers and approves them for release.
- Assists in development of verification and test procedures to comply with the latest FAA design requirements.
- Supports installation of systems via liaison with modification facility, identifies root cause issues, captures redline updates, resolves design issues, and updates drawings to meet schedule.
- Interfaces with clients, customers, FAA designees, and vendors during the entire project to ensure designs meet all requirements.
- Participates in project bids, scheduling, design checklist development, process improvements, and project coordination.
- Performs as functional focal for the group on specific projects.
- Mentors and guides other engineers on technical designs or processes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary of Education, Experience & Certification:
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Aerospace or Electrical Engineering with minimum of 8 years relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Aviation background and aircraft interior experience strongly preferred.
Employees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person, defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company, foreign government, or foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Extensive technical knowledge of Boeing aircraft or similar aircraft for VIP and/or commercial models.
- Strong working knowledge of OEM data platforms and technical documentation systems.
- Thorough knowledge of power distribution, lighting, cabin management, and related systems.
- Thorough understanding of the certification and electrical design process.
- Ability to provide complex layouts and program design studies.
- Ability to work and make decisions independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to interface successfully with customers on projects.
- Competent use of CAD and data management systems.
- Ability to understand and derive multiple customer standard electrical system requirements.
