About the role
Summary:
The Underwriter works under the direct supervision of the Director of Underwriting and provides technical expertise, support, and service while maintaining daily interaction with the Account Management team.
Responsibilities:
- Review carrier renewals and maintain carrier relationships and communications.
- Gather account and historical data; prepare and distribute Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
- Review carrier proposals for accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness.
- Maintain knowledge of current insurance market trends, conditions, competitive intelligence, and product and service innovations.
- Interact collaboratively and professionally with colleagues, clients, carriers, and business partners.
- Perform other duties assigned, including but not limited to underwriting, quoting, account servicing, claims support, inspection ordering and review, and loss control recommendations.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of Property & Casualty underwriting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, risk assessment, and underwriting principles.
- Professional insurance designations (e.g., CPCU, AU, CIC, ARM, or similar) preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field preferred.
- Well-versed in insurance coverages, policy language, and underwriting guidelines.
- Strong work ethic with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
