About the role

What is Candlelight?

Since July 2019, Fever Originals has produced a series of classical music concerts in a “candlelit setting” which take place in intimate and undiscovered venues worldwide. Candlelight has democratized classical music by sharing it with the general public and providing a unique experience for each audience.

For this role, we are looking for a part-time onsite Event Manager for our Candlelight Concerts located in Honolulu, Hawaii. This part-time position includes flexible weekday hours for preparation and planning, in addition to event support during concerts. Most concerts take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, so availability during those times may be expected.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main point of contact onsite for Candlelight events and staff; communicate directly with the Fever Originals manager.
  • Maintain visibility into the staff roster, set schedules, and communicate with the staffing agency about event reschedules.
  • Ensure each staff member is trained in their duties, including validating tickets, accommodating guests to their seats, and setting up candles in the venue.
  • Drive a U-Haul with event supplies to and from concert venues. Alternative transportation methods may be arranged for candidates unable to drive or without a valid driver’s license.
  • Manage inventory and track supplies for venues.
  • Manage printing needs.
  • Manage guest lists for all events.
  • Manage opening and closing remarks at events, usually using a recorded speech, with occasional public speaking.
  • Provide weekly reports to Fever Originals Project Managers on the status of each event, including pre- and post-event findings and feedback.
  • Occasionally assist with evaluating and executing walkthroughs of potential venues.
  • Represent the Fever and Candlelight brands through professional communication and management, acting as the main customer service representative at every event.

Required skills:

  • 1+ years of experience in event management and/or a relevant degree preferred.
  • Interest and passion for live music and organizing events.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Experience leading an onsite team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a pressured environment.
  • Knowledge of AV and PA systems desirable.
  • Use of a personal laptop required.
  • A valid driver’s license strongly preferred.

Schedule & Pay:

The contract will be for 6 months, ideally starting as soon as possible. Shows run weekly, and shift times vary from 4–8 hours per day. The role will be a maximum of 29 hours per week and may include work on certain holidays. There may be an opportunity to extend the contract after the initial 6 months.

Rate:

25$/hour; further details can be discussed during the interview.

Our Hiring Process:

  • A 30-minute video call with the local Project Manager and/or Producer to discuss the responsibilities and answer questions.
  • A paid trial work day to assess fit within the team; after a successful work day, an offer will follow.
