About the role

The Position:

As a Senior Platform Engineering Manager, you’ll lead Engineering Managers and Platform Engineers across multiple teams within Platform Engineering. You’ll be responsible for leading the delivery and improvement of internal platform capabilities that enable engineers and AI agents to build, deploy, and operate software safely and efficiently.

You’ll develop managers and engineers, set direction across your area, and ensure teams focus on the right priorities. Alongside your broader leadership responsibilities, you’ll remain close to the delivery and development of the teams and people you directly manage.

Working closely with Engineering, Product, and Security, you’ll shape the roadmap for your area, manage priorities and dependencies across teams, and turn common engineering needs into reusable, self-service platform capabilities. You’ll also help shape how the platform supports engineers and AI-driven workflows safely and at scale.

Reporting to the Platform Engineering Director, you’ll combine organizational leadership with technical judgment to influence technical direction, challenge decisions, and create an environment where teams can deliver effectively.

The Game Plan:

  • Lead Engineering Managers and Platform Engineers across multiple teams, providing direction, alignment, and support.
  • Develop managers and engineers through coaching, feedback, and career development.
  • Translate Platform Engineering strategy into clear priorities and outcomes.
  • Work closely with Product to shape roadmaps and prioritize investment.
  • Drive development and adoption of the Internal Developer Platform, including developer tooling, workflows, APIs, templates, integrations, and platform services.
  • Enable platform capabilities for engineers and AI agents, focusing on self-service, automation, and secure-by-default practices.
  • Provide technical and organizational leadership while influencing architecture and engineering direction.
  • Manage priorities, dependencies, and trade-offs across teams.
  • Drive platform reliability and operational maturity using SLOs, observability, incidents, and operational data.
  • Use platform metrics and developer feedback to understand adoption, developer experience, reliability, and investment impact.
  • Champion engineering standards across automation, code quality, observability, security, Infrastructure as Code, and operational excellence.
  • Build organizational capability through workforce planning, hiring, succession planning, and leadership development.
