About the role

Position Overview:

Supports accounting, financial reporting, and financial stewardship for assigned business units while developing the skills needed to assume full ownership of a business unit. Reports to the Assistant Controller and prepares journal entries, reconciles balance sheet accounts, supports month-end close, analyzes financial activity, and ensures accurate financial reporting. Partners with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Finance teams.

Core Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting & Month-End Close

  • Prepare journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, allocations, and reclassifications.
  • Complete month-end close activities.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve reconciling items.
  • Maintain general ledger activity and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with monthly financial statements.

Financial Stewardship & Business Unit Support

  • Support the Assistant Controller in maintaining financial integrity.
  • Monitor balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Partner with shared services teams to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Identify financial risks, discrepancies, and operational issues.

Business Partnership

  • Build relationships with operational leaders and shared services partners.
  • Respond to accounting questions.
  • Participate in business meetings and operational reviews.
  • Translate financial information into business insights.

Financial Analysis

  • Prepare financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance analyses.
  • Compare actual performance with budget, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Investigate unusual transactions, trends, and fluctuations.
  • Prepare financial reports and ad hoc analyses.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready financial documentation.
  • Identify unusual transactions and potential control concerns.

Process Improvement

  • Improve accounting processes, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Assist with accounting system enhancements and automation.
  • Document accounting procedures and workflow improvements.
  • Support special projects and organizational initiatives.

  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines during month-end close.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA candidate or active pursuit of CPA designation.
  • Experience in multi-entity, franchise, shared services, or service-based organizations.
  • Experience supporting audits.
  • Experience with budgeting or financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or other financial reporting tools.

The estimated compensation range for this position is $80,000 to $95,000 annually. Actual compensation is based on factors including years of experience, skills, qualifications, and geographic location.
