About the role

Directive Consulting is a leading B2B marketing agency focused on measurable business results. The company operates through Performance, Communications, and Commerce divisions, supporting Technology, Industrial, and Services clients through Paid Media, Content Marketing, PR, Paid Social, Marketplace, and Lifecycle Marketing.

Directive is seeking a forward-thinking Associate Director of Paid Social to join its Communications team. The role leads social media advertising strategy and people management for enterprise B2B clients across platforms including LinkedIn, Meta, YouTube, and Reddit.

Overview

Associate Directors are responsible for strategic excellence and developing their team of social strategists. In this role, you will help shape the product and culture while leading client strategy and team performance.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead a pod of up to 8 Social Media Strategists and set a standard of excellence across the team and clients.
  • Set goals for each client engagement in the pod.
  • Ensure clients follow social advertising best practices and Directive's methodology.
  • Support strategists in overcoming approval barriers and earning client buy-in.
  • Ensure roadblocks are discussed in one-on-one conversations and that action plans are established.
  • Build structure, create a cadence, provide proactive support, and empower the team through clear communication and expectations.

What You Offer

  • 4+ years of experience working at a performance or digital marketing agency; B2B experience is a bonus.
  • 2+ years of people management experience.
  • Deep expertise in paid social advertising campaigns, specifically LinkedIn Ads and Meta.
  • Understanding of LinkedIn and Meta ad units, including conversation ads, document ads, and CTV.
  • Proficiency with advertising platforms and tools such as LinkedIn Campaign Manager, ZoomInfo, and 6sense.
  • Ability to delegate effectively.
  • Ability to de-escalate client issues and proactively prevent them.
  • Strong understanding of paid media principles, including ICP research, ad copywriting, bid management, and campaign optimization.
  • Ability to analyze campaign performance data using Google Analytics, GA4, Excel, or other analytics platforms.
  • Ability to drive and measure results via OCT.
  • Proven measurable success with mid-market or enterprise accounts.
  • Ability to articulate strategy and tell stories with data.
  • Problem-solving, curiosity, and competitiveness.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel to visit clients approximately once per year per client or as needed.

What Success Looks Like

  • Demonstrate Directive's core values in internal and external interactions.
  • Effectively manage a team of up to 8 Strategists and Senior Strategists.
  • Meet and exceed department KPIs, including client growth and goal attainment.
  • Build client trust and relationships that support renewals with senior stakeholders.
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities aligned with client goals.
  • Offset client churn through referrals, upsells, and cross-sells.
  • Clearly communicate results to clients, executives, and internal team members.
  • Make exceptional decisions regarding account strategy, growth, and key talent retention.

  • Annual base salary of $100,000-$135,000 USD for the United States, with bonus eligibility.

Work Environment Requirements

Directive is a remote-first company offering the ability to work from anywhere in the US, with access to offices in Irvine, California. The role may operate 100% virtually from a home office. Collaboration primarily takes place through Zoom and Slack. The position requires operating a laptop and office productivity software, remaining stationary for extended periods, interpreting written and verbal communication, reliable internet access, and a professional background.
