About the role

This is an entry level position responsible for processing release of information, specifically medical record requests, in a timely and efficient manner while ensuring accuracy and providing customers with high-quality service. Associates must safeguard patient privacy and ensure releases comply with requests, authorizations, company policy, and HIPAA regulations.

Position Highlights

  • Supports 4 sites in El Paso, TX.
  • Full Time: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm

  • Document information in multiple platforms using two computer monitors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology
  • Familiarity with different EHR and billing systems
  • Experience working with subpoenas

You will

  • Receive and process requests for patient health information according to company and facility policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software.
  • Follow company and customer facility codes of conduct and policies.
  • Inform the manager of work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes.
  • Assist with additional duties as required.
  • Apply medical privacy regulations consistently to prevent unauthorized disclosure.
  • Manage and safeguard patient health records and ensure HIPAA compliance.
  • Prepare patient charts and gather documents from paper sources and electronic health records.
  • Assemble medical records in standard order and ensure they are accurate and complete.
  • Create digital images of paperwork for storage in the electronic medical record.
  • Retrieve and transmit patient records appropriately in response to internal and external requests.
  • Answer inbound and outbound calls.
  • Assist with patient walk-ins.
  • Handle administrative duties such as faxes, mail, and data entry.
  • Meet site-specific productivity expectations.
  • Schedule pick-ups as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you will bring to the table

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to commute between locations as needed.
  • Ability to work overtime during peak seasons when required.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and general office equipment.
  • Professional verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Detail- and quality-oriented approach to accurate, compliant medical information.
  • Strong data entry skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and respond to changing priorities.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus points if

  • Experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Previous production- or metric-based work experience.
  • In-person customer service experience.
  • Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers.
  • Comfort bringing new ideas, process improvement suggestions, and feedback to internal stakeholders.
