Area Health Information Specialist I -(Onsite) NJ Market

Position Overview

Datavant is seeking detail-oriented and customer-focused Release of Information (ROI) Health Information Specialists to provide call support, ROI processing, faxing, burning images to CDs, and storage ordering/reviewing at a medical facility in our New Jersey Area. These roles are patient-facing and responsible for processing medical record requests, maintaining HIPAA compliance, and ensuring accurate and timely release of protected health information (PHI).

The ideal candidates are organized, adaptable, and experienced in electronic medical record (EMR) systems. These positions require the ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining strict confidentiality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Process Release of Information (ROI) requests accurately and efficiently
• Retrieve and compile medical records from EMR systems
• Ensure HIPAA compliance when handling all protected health information
• Pull and generate reports as needed
• Perform administrative functions related to ROI processing
• Maintain organized documentation and tracking of requests
• Communicate effectively with healthcare staff, patients, and requestors
• Provide coverage support when onsite staff are out (PTO/call-outs)
• Maintain productivity and quality standards

Training & Onboarding

• Datavant DHISC training
• Hands-on, role-specific training during the first 30 days

Preferred Skills

• Strong communication skills
• Understanding of HIPAA and patient privacy regulations
• Computer proficiency and data entry accuracy
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Ability to commute between locations as needed.
