About the role
About Bland AI:
Bland AI is the voice AI platform built for enterprises with high-volume, complex call center operations. Bland started by solving the core infrastructure problem that made voice AI unusable for business: latency, reliability, and the inability to handle real-world complexity. Today, Bland's platform fully resolves up to 65% of inbound calls autonomously, handling multi-step workflows, authentication logic, business-rule-based routing, and live data lookups. Bland owns and operates its entire voice AI stack in-house, including transcription, LLM, and TTS.
Why This Role Matters:
The current finance team is small and nimble. This is the first internal accounting hire, with ownership of accounting processes, policies, reporting, and the accounting close. The role partners with external providers and leaders across the company to enhance internal tooling and reporting. The ideal candidate is interested in building processes, implementing tooling, diving into details, and operating in a fast-paced environment.
Role Overview:
You will ensure the monthly close is completed consistently and on time, partner with external providers on close procedures and reconciliations, collaborate with department leaders on expense tagging, allocations, and reporting, and prepare the reporting package. Experience with revenue recognition (ASC 606) is required. You will build revenue reporting processes with newly implemented tooling to automate self-serve and enterprise business lines. You will also oversee accounts payable, vendor management, accounting policies, sales tax, 1099s, internal controls, documentation, and reconciliations.
Ideal Candidate Profile / Role Requirements:
You should have operational experience and deep knowledge of revenue and the broader accounting close, experience with financial audits and internal controls, knowledge of accounting tooling and systems, and an understanding of how to build reporting processes for high-volume transactions. Experience with unstructured data, spreadsheet formulas, and tooling is required. You should be comfortable with ambiguity and take pride in detailed, process-oriented work.
Must-Have Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related track
- 4+ years of accounting experience across public accounting, senior accountant, or accounting manager roles
- Hands-on ownership of month-end close and account reconciliations
- ASC 6060 revenue recognition experience
- Audit experience, including preparing PBC support and workpapers
- Highly self-directed and able to work without heavy management or a fully built playbook
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- CPA or progress toward one
- Experience working with external partners in tax and accounting
- Experience in a finance or accounting role at a high-growth startup
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary range is 90,000 to 140,000 dollars depending on experience.
- Equity range is 50,000 to 150,000 dollars.
- Health insurance, dental, vision, and a 401K is provided.
- Unlimited PTO.
This is a role for someone with energy, precision, strong accounting instincts, and a desire to build and grow with the company. This is a full-time role with a preference for candidates based in San Francisco or willing to work in person, though exceptional remote candidates will also be considered. Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States.
