About the role
Position Summary
Define, maintain, and govern the functional intent of assigned vehicle features throughout the product development lifecycle.
Own feature functionality and customer expectations, ensuring requirements reflect vehicle behavior, regulatory needs, and program objectives.
Work with Systems Engineering, Requirements Management, Architecture, Design Engineering, and Validation teams to assess changes, identify technical impacts, and evolve system requirements.
Define requirements and analyze issues from software validation and overall system perspectives.

Key Responsibilities
Feature Requirements Ownership
Own functional definitions, behavior, performance expectations, and operating conditions for assigned vehicle features.
Ensure requirements are complete, consistent, and aligned with business and vehicle program objectives.
Clarify and interpret feature requirements throughout development.
Requirements Impact Assessment
Evaluate new features, enhancements, modifications, carry-over content, and regulatory changes.
Identify updates required for system requirements and assess downstream impacts across vehicle systems and interfaces.
Support technical impact analysis and change justification.
Requirements Development Support
Collaborate with Requirements Management SMEs and Systems Engineers to translate feature intent into system requirements.
Participate in requirements reviews and approvals, resolve ambiguity and conflicts, and ensure requirements capture intended functionality.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Communicate feature changes and requirement impacts to stakeholders.
Drive alignment and support resolution of technical disagreements.
Risk & Change Management
Identify risks associated with feature changes and requirement modifications.
Assess impacts to timing, complexity, and vehicle functionality.
Support requirement-release decisions and escalate risks and unresolved issues.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Experience in systems development, systems engineering, or product engineering.
Strong understanding of system requirements, feature requirements, requirements decomposition, requirements traceability, vehicle system interactions, engineering change management, and systems engineering principles.
Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, DOORS Next, or Codebeamer.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more listed vehicle system domains.
Knowledge of INCOSE Systems Engineering principles and automotive development processes.
Critical Competencies
Requirements-oriented thinking, including identifying gaps, conflicts, and ambiguities.
Systems thinking across multiple vehicle systems, integration, and architecture.
Assertiveness in defending feature intent and driving technically sound decisions.
Strong presentation, facilitation, communication, synthesis, and stakeholder-management skills.
Ideal Candidate Profile
System Engineer, Feature Owner, Design Lead, or Functional Architect with experience defining vehicle functionality and managing requirement impacts.
Understands how customer-facing features are translated into system requirements and can drive requirement decisions and cross-functional alignment during early vehicle development phases.
