About the role

Job Overview:

Design, develop, and maintain electrical systems, components, and larger projects, including vehicle avionics, battery and power subsystems, radio communication, navigation, computer vision systems, and PCBs. Support new product introduction, integration, production operations, and technical troubleshooting.

Essential Functions:

  • Design, develop, and test electrical systems for unmanned systems.
  • Select components based on specifications and reliability analysis.
  • Work with avionics, embedded systems, microcontrollers, FPGAs, single-board computers, and RF links.
  • Develop electrical control systems, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Analyze technical data and ensure compliance with codes, regulations, reliability, and safety standards.
  • Lead engineers, technicians, and clients in resolving technical issues.
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems.
  • Support production staff and transition customer-funded efforts into production.
  • Develop quality-control processes and stay current with electrical-engineering technologies.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Expert knowledge of LVDS, I2C, HDMI, UART, SPI, CAN, USB, and MIPI.
  • Proficiency in circuit design, embedded microcontrollers, video processing, batteries, motor controllers, and power distribution.
  • Strong ECAD skills for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Knowledge of electrical and RF simulation tools, MCAD, embedded ARM processors, and C/C++.
  • Familiarity with UAV avionics and electronics.
  • Ability to test and debug using laboratory equipment.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Comfortable assembling and testing equipment in a laboratory.

Education / Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Master's degree in an applicable field preferred.

Experience:

  • 6+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical problems during transition from design to production.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently sit, use computers and office equipment, lift up to 25 pounds, and stand for extended periods.
  • Occasionally perform repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements.

Security Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI DoD clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
